 travel writers tales mission

During the last decade there have been significant changes in the newspaper and magazine business, as well as with the travel industry. In the case of the former, newsprint costs have escalated; and as far as the latter goes, the fluctuations of travel have been influenced by several events-some are natural calamities, others relate to the lurking threat of terrorism.

As is to be expected, the travel industry gags in dismay when faced with consumer uncertainties. They review their advertising costs, and become highly selective as to their clientele. Claw backs on advertising impact on newspaper budgets. Ripple effect? If publishers and editors don't have enough advertising support for their travel pages they turn to syndicated wire services as an economic option.

So where does this leave a freelance travel writer? Well…scrambling desperately in a competitive, and often closed environment.

Clearly we need to think outside the circle of conventional marketing strategies. We have chosen to offer an innovative solution by introducing Travel Writers Tales. Our commitment is:

    (a) To our professional writers and photographers who will have an assured print outlet in well-accredited newspapers serving a large urban and suburban readership.

    (b) To our customers-editors and publishers of both daily and weekly newspapers, in providing them with articles written from a unique perspective (as opposed to generic stories on the wire services) by local British Columbia journalists at attractive cost effective rates.

    (c) To the travel industry, whose marketing organizations can assure their clientele of print exposure in reputable widely distributed publications within a reasonable framework of time.

    (d) To the general reading public who look for unique, entertaining and informative stories on destinations across the globe.

It's a commitment to our writers, our readers, our editors, publishers and our travel industry supporters. It's also an enterprise that we believe in. We hope you will too.
